Chair: Marjorie Hume.
Marjorie has a background in public service, with a diverse portfolio of skills. Latterly, she specialised in policy development and strategic management in local government. She has a substantial history of work at board level in the charity sector and currently chairs the board of the Volunteer Centre Borders. She has served as a Trustee for Gunsgreen for a while, is working voluntarily on the archives at Paxton House and is something of an expert on Scottish Country Dancing.
Trustee: Professor Emeritus Leslie Mitchell.
Les brings immeasurably valuable expertise to the board. He had a distinguished career in academia in Edinburgh specialising in Design, and has also brought to Gunsgreen his practical knowledge developed over many years in his own interior design business. His advisory roles have included international briefs from the European Universities Association, and he has a track record as a specialist advisor to the Arts Council on Scotland. He currently holds senior positions in the Saltire Society.
Trustee: Tim Morris
Tim is a retired stipendiary priest of the Scottish Episcopal Church and now lives in Berwickshire. Having worked as a Chartered Surveyor in Edinburgh, he was ordained in 1976 and served in churches in Edinburgh, Ayrshire, the Borders and Canada. For nine years he worked as Dean of the Edinburgh diocese in the care and management of over 50 Episcopal churches. He joined the board at Gunsgreen in 2013, and like others on the Board often acts as a guide in the house.
Trustee: Allan Swan, Architect to the House.
No one man knows more about the bricks, mortar and timbers of Gunsgreen than Allan. Partner in the Eyemouth practice of Bain Swan LLP, Alan has shouldered the task of professional advice for and supervision of the restoration of Gunsgreen. He has a distinguished portfolio of work across his career, but is too bashful to want to list the extent of his undoubted expertise. Perpetually in demand, Allan somehow manages to give the board invaluable time and advice.
Trustee: Riddell Graham
Riddell is currently Director of Industry and Destination Development with Scotland’s national tourist board – VisitScotland. He has held a number of senior positions in both local and national tourism development during his 40 year career, much of it spent in the area where he was born and bred - the Scottish Borders. He has extensive experience in management, strategy development, communications, customer service and partnership working
Trustee: Alan Aitchison
Alan Aitchison is originally from Eyemouth and now brings his significant experience of the financial sector to the Trust. In particular, he has extensive knowledge of the management of charity and trust assets. He currently acts as Trustee for a number of other charities and trusts with wide needs and objectives.
